Biography

I have a bachelor degree in Environmental Sciences with an academic research approach in Marine Environment-related topics. I am a member of the Sociedad Ambiente Marino (SAM) and a previous member of it's student chapter. I helped coordinate many activities, such as coastal clean-ups, and other outreach activities focusing on education and conservation of marine resources.

My previous research interest focuses on marine biology topics, specifically larvae of corals and other benthic organisms. As an undergraduate researcher, I performed field and laboratory work at Shannon Point Marine Center to evaluate the effects of ocean warming and acidification on the Pacific Sand Dollar larvae metabolism and energetics. I also worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at PRCEN at University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras Campus performing laboratory work to evaluate growth rate and Symbiodinium, sp. density of Mustard Hill coral juvenile and larvae at La Parguera, Lajas P.R.

I had the opportunity to present my research projects in several conferences such as the 36th Puerto Rico Interdisciplinary Scientific Meeting and 51th Junior Technical Meeting at PCUPR-Ponce, and was winner of the travel award of the 29th annual Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography Multicultural Program at Portland, Oregon.
